Time to bombard food photos. Yay!!! I did have fun time playing with #photogrid #afterlight and #instamag

Friday 13th Feb 2015 Red Lobster aka Chattime chilling with my girls

I havent hang out with them for so long- def one of the best night out ever, especially before Valentine day. (we could heard couples whispering Happy Valentine Day beside our table). Haha – i left my bf chilling with his laptop at home Friday night.

Our girl talks still as Loud, Stupid & diRty as ever! lol

Since 4 girls hanging out alone before Valentine, a couple of incident happened. We got invited to hang out with some other guys but we rejected it. & there was this viet guy passed by our table @redlobster & told me he understood Viet & what we said (all my friends went to WC & left me there alone when he came to talk to me). I told all my frds afterward, all of us were like…”you heard our talk???omgggg” Not to mention we were all of laughing not so long ago about how we were so lucky no one here understand our language. :)))

We were also constantly looking at the live window @chattime to see if our hashtag instagram+pictures there. We saw it in the end but its too fast we couldnt take pictures.

Friday Feb 6th 2015 La Petite France Winterlicious/ 7West Cafe friends reunion

We all thought La Petite France was in downtown- turn out its in Etobicoke. This family owed restaurant was full of older people- we were the only young group there. :0

The food turned out to be so good- does not look as fancy as Canoe but this home comforting food tasted so yummy/ im so in love w the chef’s seasoning- yum yum. The dessert was so nomnom too- we all have Poire Belle Helene (peach with vanilla icecream & chocolate sauce?) the chocolate moose was sold out & we all werent so fond of lemon tarte

Later we hung out at the 7 West Cafe to enjoy some sweet &tea- how come I just find out about this gem?? its so close to my house too (the velvet cheesecake is so yum!!!)

Sunday Feb 1st 2015 First Winterlicious @ Canoe

Me & my boyfriend were kinda lost inside the path before going to Canoe (it was such a snow-storming day too & we were having a fight over choosing the direction)

I must say the courses were a feast to the eyes. And thats the end. The price were too high for us to consider going back again.

Oh~ and it is also my first time seeing a proposal inside the restaurant.

I heard:”omg , you are so mean”. Looking up, thinking “are they going to fight?!2#@. And saw this guys in his knee & took out the ring. Thats so sweet, I do wish them a happy life forever:).  Still, if it were me, I wouldnt like the idea of proposal inside the restaurant full of people looking at you like watching some kind of movie.

Canoe Restaurant & Bar on Urbanspoon

Sunday Feb 8th 2015 Winterlicious @ Auberge du Pommier

Though they actually the same chain of company with Canoe, one thing i have to say about this place, the Service is Top-notch – best I ever experienced. I also like the ambient elegant atmosphere, nice decoration and soft music.

The food is so delicious- well worth the price. I would rate 5 star for this experience.

Thats sum up for my half of Feb weekend. 🙂 lalala~

Parkdale LabCab Festival.

Another weekend have passed by, so many things happened and here I am struggling with how to write it all down. I have bad memory, the days was so fun and certainly I do not want to forget any single details…

I love festivals in Toronto and all among the festivals that I visited recently, this is one of the best, the most fascinating and entertaining  in Toronto. You can read about Lab Cab festival here.  The festival started during the week of July 26-27 and we came there  Sunday, July 27.

Upon arriving to the festival in which we start walking down from Dufferin and Queen Street East intersection, everyone received a little handbook from the volunteer.

Inside the handbook, you will see all of the details about the events, shows, performance and workshops happening in Queen Street West intersecting Dufferin until Roncesvalles Ave.  A little tip next time for anyone coming to the festival, look at the time of the event happening and match it with your starting point or your located area. For example, the event would start at 2pm from dufferin/ queen street and continuing to the next street in the next hour or so.

I did not go to all of them because of a little “ket-chup” to my friend birthday later in the same afternoon, still, I was lucky to be early to the festival and be able to enjoyed myself as much as possible that day.

1. BBQ Free Lunch

The BBQ free lunch started at 2pm in Dufferin Amphitheatre. We were 15 mins early so we could get into one of the first lines.

Good times the band started preparing too and around 2 there would came the singer.

Can you believe this all for free? 2 packs of Meal-to- Go with Hot dog- corns, potatoes and a free pop of your choice!!!

While you are waiting, you could listen to French songs and people dancing (me dancing )

2. One minute portrait.

In the same amphitheatre, we also have little workshop where you can get free children face painting and one minutes blind portrait.

Since I am not a kid anymore, cry* I cant get a colourful face painting so I run up to the blind portrait. >>> Blind portrait is something that when the artist draw your face by looking at you (this is a little awkward) without looking at his or her canvas.

She said the picture doesnt do me justice. I said it looks lovely to me and ask for her signature.

oh! I do love it-hehe  ❤

3. Free The Bird.

We went to The Workroom – a participated event venue for the festival. It was kind of a bizarre performance.

Anyway, I do love the tea party theme in the garden at the back of the workroom. Lovely tea & welcoming host. 🙂

I didnt take many pictures because of the shutter phone noise.

4. Terrarium Workshop

We also went to the terrarium workshop in Crown Flora Studio, I did not know we have to book for the workshop and it was all full. However, they gave out beautiful flowers for free in front of the store. I gave it later to the birthday girl (my friend birthday is on the same day- we went to Ten-ichi, please look forward to my next restaurant review).

Pardon my sickly face.

5. Others.

There was this experiment that look like to a staring contest to me- but it is spiritually- amusing to my bf. You can find it here – it called how can I kill you after look into your eyes?

The experiment consists of 2 people sitting opposite of each other & have to look at each other eyes until another person want to replace you and they would tap lightly on the participating person’s shoulder. Later, each participants would need to record their thoughts into the notebook. Which later I found it here

As he explained to me “it is difficult to kill someone after you see aspect of yourself in them”…

I felt awkward & I was so glad some guy came up and tap him out.

Oh. Obviously cant wait to show you guys my new Oxford vintage shoes- bought in Common Sort.

This Weekend I…

1.MMVA Beauty Bar

It is such a great day that even though we were in the long waiting for the MMVA Beauty Bar, we could listen to Imagine Dragons “Demon” & “Radioactive” rehearsal in live next to us!!!! Me & my friend were so excited that we started jumped on our feet, danced & sang along. Too bad I could not take any pictures of them because the line were too far on the side of the stage. Still, its good being able to listen to their singing for real.

We went inside the Beauty Bar after the long wait. It was quick but there was still more ppl waiting outside too!. Our make up lady is kind enough she did both our eyes & lips. Afterwards, everyone received swag bags with lots of freebies inside. (see picture below).

With Cham. The lipstick sure have brighten her whole looks.

From the left side, hair spray, mouse, shampoo, BBCream sample, mascara & razor & a Turn It Up Frame, we also got 2 small packs of Excel Giveaway on our way to Eaton.

A Sneak peak of MMVA & not to mention, I can feel the ongoing World Cup season everywhere. Top right side, a bought a German sausage hot dog on the way. “Hot dog bought in dt always taste so good”, Cham commented.

2. Weekend Foodies

We have steamed fish on Friday night. The trick to every good steamed fish, a whole lots of green onions & ginger to take all the fishy smell away.

Saturday, I decided to cook Pho Bo Kho, traditional Vietnamese dishes, below is all of my ingredients. Cant go further than the authentic ones if you have the right ingredients!!. The only thing I dont have is sweet onion which I thought I still have it in stock.

From top left: honey, salt, pepper. Top right: rice noodles (banh Pho), seasoning sauce, 5-spices, tapioca starch, marinated beef (I choose a beef flank). Bottom from left to right, vegetables, anise stars, lemon grass, tomatoes, carrots & potatoes.

I always pan-fried the meat first before putting them inside the pot.

The completed Pho Bo Kho, always put chopped green onions, cilantro or coriander for the final looks.

Haha. Bonus flowers picture & this cat I saw when I was cooking.

3. Weekend Movies

Groundhog Day (1993): Watch this movie after the recent famed Edge of Tomorrow (2014) noticing both two main female leads named Rita (wonder if they have any connection?). I have also read the manga All You Need Is Kill/ Hiroshi Sakurazaka (not the light novel, I know the novel came first) before watching both movies (lol I always quick on manga updates more than movie updates). I know I should read novel too, the novel is always better then the movie. Anyway, 2 movies are 2 different genres but highly rated and definitely worth watching!!!

Source Code (2011): One of top-must watched mysteries movies with great action and thriller. Similar with both above mentioned movies that the main characters could go back again & again at one point, though he can only go back for only 8 minutes.
